HIGH POINT MARKET: Merchandise Mart Properties expands leasing staff

Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. has added two people to its leasing team here and also has promoted two longtime employees to new posts.

Brian C. Bunch has joined the High Point team as assistant general manager and vice president of sales. He previously was president and owner for more than 10 years of Beljen Mills, a source of woven tapestries and a High Point Market exhibitor. In his new role, he will oversee the MMPI High Point sales team.

Jim Gooding has also joined the leasing team as vice president of sales. He has nearly 30 years of experience in the home furnishings and textiles industries, most recently as a special account manager at Glen Raven Custom Fabrics. Gooding will be responsible for leasing permanent showrooms in the High Point properties.

MMPI also has promoted Steve Johnson to vice president - administration and assistant general manager. He has been with MMPI for more than eight years in roles ranging from administration to operations, marketing and leasing.

Paul Sperano, who has been with MMPI since 1999, has been promoted to director of operations. He will be managing the operational aspects of the company's six buildings in High Point and will be the point person for maintenance, materials management, security, housekeeping, construction, tradeshows, grounds and budget preparation.

High Point's second largest showroom operator, MMPI leases 2.1 million square feet in six buildings - Plaza Suites, Furniture Plaza, National Furniture Mart, Market Square/Suites at Market Square, Hamilton Market and 300 S. Main Street.
