AT THE MARKET: W. Schillig offers Walt Disney Signature entertainment furniture

AT THE MARKET — Upholstery source W. Schillig is showing a home entertainment console collection here by award winning home theater designer Theo Kalomirakis and Walt Disney Signature.

Schillig has an American distribution agreement for line by Kalomirakis, who has designed home theater furniture for the likes of Roger Ebert, Eddie Murphy and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. He also has won the Lifetime Achievement Award from CEDIA, the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Assn.

Ron Crouch, president of Theo Kalomirakis LLC, said the new line is "surround sound made simple. That's a tag line we want to build on."

Disney will announce incentives to help drive traffic to stores in coordination with the pieces, Crouch said.

The high-end home entertainment furniture comes in three styles named Melody, Tocata and Symphony, which feature a retro-transitional style reminiscent of vintage media cabinetry. Schillig also offers coordinating sofas, arm chairs, cocktail tables and side tables.

Retail price points for the entertainment consoles start at $2,999, with leather sofas priced to retail at $3,399 to $4,899 and occasional pieces from $349 to $799.

Kalomirakis designed the home entertainment consoles with features such as built-in surround sound speakers and easy multi-media connectivity, including iPod, iPhone and iNano docking. The pieces also feature a cooling fan for dissipating heat.

Kalomirakis also designed an amplification system with two woofer, two tweeters and a subwoofer. The pieces get rid of the wires that can sometimes become unmanageable with home theater systems, he said.
