HIGH POINT MARKET: Fire damages showroom, snarls traffic

No injuries, minor damage reported

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 28, 2009

HIGH POINT — A Monday afternoon fire caused minor damage to the Reflections Furniture showroom at 101 N. Main St. and snarled traffic in downtown High Point for several hours.

Workers at the scene said the fire started about 4:30 p.m. when roofers accidentally ignited materials on the roof at the rear of the building. The fire was quickly extinguished, but firefighters remained on the scene for more than two hours to insure the roofing materials did not reignite.

The 100 block of North Main Street was blocked by police and traffic from both directions was detoured around the scene.

No injuries were reported.

No one answered the phone at the Reflections showroom Tuesday morning and it wasn't immediately clear if the casual dining producer had reopened.
