La-Z-Boy regroups

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 12, 2003

La-Z-Boy is restructuring its executive staff in a move intended to intensify the organization's focus on the consumer in each of its business segments, capitalize on the company's brand strength, reduce redundancies and accelerate decision making.

Several key executives will have responsibility for other companies in their business units, as well as their own businesses.

Steve Kincaid, president of Kincaid, will become president of the La-Z-Boy Casegoods Group. He reports to Kurt Darrow, La-Z-Boy's president and chief executive officer, and will coordinate the activities of the other case goods companies — Pennsylvania House, Kincaid/Alexvale, Lea, American of Martinsville, Hammary and American Drew. Presidents of those companies will retain responsibility for their respective businesses, and will report to Kincaid.

Kincaid also will be responsible for La-Z-Boy's consolidated global sourcing and operations for case goods.

John Case has been named president of La-Z-Boy branded product and will directly manage the La-Z-Boy Residential business, previously headed by Darrow, which also includes company-owned retail stores. In addition, the company's Contract and international businesses will report to Case. Previously, Case was president of the Upholstery group.

Rodney England will provide direction to the non-La-Z-Boy branded upholstery companies in addition to his current role as president of England Inc. The Upholstery group includes Bauhaus, Centurion, Clayton Marcus, England, La-Z-Boy, La-Z-Boy Contract Furniture Group and Sam Moore.

Corporate staff executives also will report to Darrow, including David M. Risley, senior vice president and chief financial officer' Stanley W. Kirkwood, vice president and corporate chief information officer; and Steven P. Rindskopf, vice president corporate human resources.
