Vermont Precision launches office lines

Morrisville, Vt. — Pursuing sales beyond its core youth-furniture business, Vermont Precision Woodworks has entered the home office arena with two new collections.
With the addition of home office, the cherry, maple and ash specialist is looking to provide a more comprehensive lineup.
"We're trying to expand beyond youth," said Geoff Jackson, president. "We have 15 beds that go up to king-size, but we haven't had the case pieces to match."
With primarily solid-wood construction and updated traditional designs, Vermont Precision has a strong base of distribution with youth specialists. But Jackson said the company's goal of opening new accounts requires a more complete assortment that allows retailers to buy across several collections.
Based on input from retailers, home office seemed like a natural line extension, Jackson said. At the April market, the company showed two new SOHO collections — Manchester and Metro.
Manchester is an adaptation of an existing bedroom, available in maple or cherry, with a 52-inch desk to retail at $799.
The other collection, Metro, is a new design, more contemporary with black metal bases and cherry cases. The 64-inch Metro desk will retail at $599, and the lateral file will sell for $899.
Looking toward the October market, Jackson said the company plans to introduce a new collection, including home office, designed by Bob Mulder, who previously created case goods collections for Baker Furniture.
"This will be important for us," Jackson said. "Bob has put together a transitional lifestyle look that we think is very appealing. We're excited to see how retailers respond."
