Scholnick takes IFRA helm

Orlando, Fla. — Orlando, Fla.— Neil Scholnick, president of American Furniture Rentals, Bensalem, Pa., took office as the 2004–2005 president of the International Furniture Rental Assn. at the group's annual meeting here.
Ginny Kreamer of Custom Furniture Rental, Las Vegas, was named president elect.
Industry analyst Jerry Epperson of Mann, Armistead & Epperson, Richmond, Va., was the featured speaker at the meeting, discussing the possibility the U.S. government might impose duties on imported bedroom furniture from China.
Legislative topics covered included California mattress flammability regulations and the progress of current federal legislation on depreciation rules.
IFRA presented the Carl F. Barron Outstanding Achievement Award to the association's executive director, Jerry Gorup of the Raybourn Group International. The award is given to a member of the association who provides exemplary service and support to the furniture rental industry.
Other topics included changes and new trends in the rent-to-own industry, how current technology is changing furniture distribution, and a corporate housing industry update by Bridgestreet and Marriott Execustay.
The meeting concluded with a panel discussion titled "Industry Outlook: What's Changed, What Hasn't," presented by Robert W. Crawford Jr. of Brook Furniture Rentals, Don Lange of Aaron Rents and Paul Arnold of Cort.
