Los Angeles — Dennis Pitts has returned to World Linen and Textile Co. as director of merchandising and product development.
He was sourcing and quality control manager at World Linen in 2001, and more recently was international sourcing manager at Castec, a window shading company.
In his new position, Pitts will be a liaison between World Linen's creative department and its sales team and will manage product development with major accounts, according to President Milton Jupiter.
Pitts said he also intends to expand the company's linen assortment with additional yarn-dyed and jacquard constructions to complement the existing print and solid lines. He also plans to incorporate new fibers such as hemp and jute.
In the 1980s, Pitts managed a small home textiles company, and from 1997 to 2000 was the Moscow office manager for Northern Linen, a Dutch trading company that supplied World Linen.
"Dennis is a linen expert," Jupiter said, "with experience from working in the linen mills of Russia and Eastern Europe, as well as with customers who designed finished product with linen. He brings a wide range of experience in textiles, product development and sales."
