Jordan replaces Nelson as d-Scan chief

Tom Edmonds -- Furniture Today, September 28, 2003

David Nelson, long-time president of d-Scan, a small office/home office specialist, has resigned and been replaced by Jay Jordan, a veteran home furnishings and ready-to-assemble furniture sales executive.

Jordan, now president and chief executive officer, comes to d-Scan from Sauder Woodworking, where he had been national accounts manager since 1998. Prior to that, he was vice president of Edelston & Associates, a Chicago group specializing in home goods and hardware sales to major retailers, including Wards and Sears.

Jordan reports to Ole L. Andersen, president and CEO of RTA maker Tvilum-Scanbirk. D-Scan and Tvilum both are owned by home products giant Masco, which also owns Mill's Pride.

Nelson, hired by Paul Wollevik, d-Scan founder, said he is considering his options. He had managed the d-Scan factory in South Boston and U.S. sales for 13 years.

Jordan said he wants to focus on d-Scan's core strengths as a supplier of veneer and laminate bookcases and modular office systems to large retailers such as Storehouse and Office Depot.

At the same time, he said, "We're going to be looking at some new product lines, we're going to be enhancing our product lines, and we're going to be looking to put a strong emphasis on quality, new products and 100% excellent service to our customers."

The partnership with Denmark-based Tvilum-Scanbirk will expand, Jordan said. "We'll be working as more of a U.S. arm for their company," he said.
