Gee's Bend quilts, sewn for over five generations by African-American women in rural Gee's Bend, Ala., have been the subject of a traveling exhibition to major folk art museums for the past year. The company has exclusive rights to reproduce the quilts as rugs. The original works are owned by the Tinwood Alliance, a nonprofit organization. Royalties from rug sales will help to build a community center and museum in Gee's Bend. Three different constructions are based on quilt designs:
