You can help us honor the best furniture salespeople
Ray Allegrezza, Editor in chief -- Furniture Today, September 15, 2003
All too often, the squeaky wheel not only gets the grease, it also commands most of our attention.
While I believe there's some truth to complaints from consumers who say the sales help at some furniture stores stinks, I also believe there are retail sales stars out there who never get the recognition they deserve. Until now.
It's time to sing the praises of the unsung heroes and heroines at retail, and we need your help.
Here's the plan: Furniture/Today is hosting its own version of "Star Search," looking for your retail salespeople who not only have spotted an opportunity to help customers create a beautiful room, but have gone the extra mile to make that dream a reality.
The ideal candidate is a salesperson who is more than a selling machine. We're looking for dream-weavers who have the skills, imagination and passion to not merely sell furniture, but to journey with a customer from dream to reality. We're calling this "Furniture/Today's America The Beautiful Contest," because that is what the people we plan to salute are doing — helping consumers create beautiful rooms.
We've all watched tv shows that feature makeup artists performing makeovers. I always stick around until the end of the show to see the dramatic before-and-after shots.
Think of our contest in that light. We'll recognize the most dramatic room makeovers in a number of core categories. To enter, get the before-and-after shots together, fill out the form below and send them to me at Furniture/Today, 7025 Albert Pick Road, Suite 200, Greensboro, N.C. 27409.
If you prefer, you can fill out the form electronically on our Web site at www.furnituretoday.com. Remember: We must have both BEFORE and AFTER pictures for each entry. You may enter in multiple categories. There is no cost to enter.
The plan is to announce the winners at the upcoming Furniture/Today Leadership Conference, Dec 3–5 in Orlando, Fla.. Winning entries also will be featured in subsequent issues of Furniture/Today.
All entries and photos must arrive at our office no later than Oct. 1.
