Powers joins King Koil of Texas
David Perry -- Furniture Today, July 13, 2003
Hinsdale, Ill. — Bedding veteran Dave Powers has rejoined King Koil, where he was an executive in the mid-1990s.
Powers is executive vice president of sales and marketing at King Koil of Texas. He will be responsible for sales, merchandising, marketing and business development for the licensee's San Antonio and Houston facilities.
"I've worked with Dave over the past eight years and have witnessed firsthand his attributes and dedication to the bedding industry. He will be a major asset to our strategic positioning moving forward," said Stan Schnitzer, president of King Koil of Texas.
Powers has spent almost 25 years in the mattress industry, most recently as executive vice president of Mattress Giant, a bedding retailer based in Addison, Texas. The company grew from 70 to 200 stores during his tenure.
Before that he worked at the King Koil corporate office. Earlier, he worked in management at Simmons from 1981 to 1994.
"The opportunity for me to rekindle my relationship with King Koil was an easy decision," Powers said. "The fact that I understand the culture from my prior experience with King Koil and have been able to see their progress from a retailer's perspective while at Mattress Giant will enable me to hit the ground running."
