New Robb & Stucky HQ under way
Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, June 20, 2004
Fort Myers, Fla. — Robb & Stucky is breaking ground this week on a new headquarters and distribution center here, a $14 million, 235,000-square-foot project that should position the company to better serve its growing Florida markets.
The leased complex in south Fort Myers, between Six Mile Cypress and Daniels Parkway, will have 45,000 square feet for corporate offices and more than 190,000 square feet of warehouse and distribution space.
Each side will have 37 bay doors, and the complex will have room to enhance its quality assurance and customer satisfaction activities.
When it opens in mid-September, the warehouse will replace a smaller facility nearby. Robb & Stucky will continue to operate its 180,000-square-foot main distribution center in Lincolnton, N.C., serving its Florida, Arizona and Texas stores.
The retailer's corporate staff will vacate its existing offices at the Fort Myers store in December, freeing up space to expand the store's design services and boost the showroom by roughly 15,000 square feet to about 85,000 square feet.
"From a logistics standpoint, to have our corporate office, distribution facility and customer service all under one roof will be much more efficient," said Fred Berk, president of the 15-store, upscale retailer.
In 25 years, under the leadership of CEO Clive Lubner, Robb & Stucky has grown from a two-store, $2 million operation to 15 stores in Florida, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Plano, Texas, doing $230 million in annual sales.
