Valcke heads YFA officers slate for 2003

Commerce, Calif. — The Young Furniture Associates, a chapter of the Assn. of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers, installed their 2003 governing board members at an installation dinner in Orange County, Calif.
The 2003 officers include Gene Valcke, Hanes Inds., president; Jacqueline Baptie, Timbercrest Furniture, vice president; Tammy Rupp, U.S. Futaba, secretary; Juan Morales, Contract Resources, treasurer; and George Ayotte, Kemp Hardware, immediate past president.
Installed as board members were Kent Donnelly, GM Packaging; Lisa Csutak, Freeman Decorating; Gabrielle Gallardo, Elite Leather; Al Gonzales, Hanes Inds.; Antonio Guevara, Good Cos.; and Sam Rogers, Leggett & Platt. The AWFS board liaison to YFA is Jon Sanchez of Hanes Inds.
George Ayotte was presented with the Richard M. Sax Award, given each year to a person in the industry who exemplifies the qualities of leadership and industry service.
Also at the meeting, plans were announced for the YFA City of Hope fundraiser scheduled for Sept. 20. The dinner and auction will feature an Oktoberfest theme and will include silent and live auctions. The YFA raises between $60,000 and $80,000 annually for City of Hope through its dinner and silent auction of furniture.
The group took a tour of the City of Hope on March 25.
Other 2003 YFA events include the YFA golf tournament May 12 at Green River Golf Club in Corona, Calif., and a tour of high-end case goods and upholstered furniture manufacturer Marge Carson in Rosemead, Calif., on June 10.
