Therapedic honors Central American licensees

David Perry -- Furniture Today, March 31, 2003

Michael Pino, president of Therapedic International, based here, recently presented quality awards to three Central American licensees during a trip he made to that area.

Pino recognized Rafael Valero, owner/director of bedding operations, Therapedic Panama; John Mussack, general manager of bedding operations, Therapedic Honduras; and Pano Dimitrakis, owner/director of bedding operations, Therapedic Guatemala. The three received Therapedic's Medi-Coil Quality Construction Award.

Pino said the award is based on a long list of construction criteria that licensees must follow before they can put a Therapedic label on their mattresses.

"Although marketing and merchandising may vary from country to country, there are minimum standards that constitute a Therapedic Medi-Coil sleep product," Pino said. "The only way proper construction can be verified is by making a personal visit. I know our manufacturers, and am quite certain of their manufacturing capabilities.

"Our factories would never be able to sell the prestigious accounts they do if they were not making a quality product," he continued. "These inspections must be made according to the guidelines established by Therapedic's Board of Directors and the factory's license agreement."

Therapedic Panama, Therapedic Honduras and Therapedic Guatemala carry a full line of Therapedic sleep products, including Backsense, Therapedic's international chiropractor-endorsed No Turn Technology sleep system backed by the Australian Spinal Research Foundation.

"Therapedic has gained market share in each of these countries because of each factory's quality construction and service," said Pino. "The award is a way of verifying to retailers that Therapedic has inspected their official mattress supplier in their country and certified that those retailers are receiving a quality sleep product for their consumers made to approved specifications."
