Aktrin studies recliner mkt. in Mexico
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 31, 2003
High Point — Aktrin Furniture Information Center, a consulting group based here and in metro Toronto, has teamed with a Mexican consultant to produce a report on the recliner market in Mexico.
The report, based on a survey of 52 leading furniture retailers in Mexico, analyzes market share by producers, cover selection, style and color.
"For recliner makers interested in expanding sales in Mexico, this study will give a thorough understanding of its largely unknown recliner market," said Stefan Wille, president of Aktrin. "This is the first specific category study in any Latin American country."
He said researchers found that U.S.-based recliner producers La-Z-Boy and Lane have more than 50% of the Mexican market. The two largest Mexican manufacturers, Violanti and Boal, have a combined share of only 10%.
Information on the 170-page study is available by calling Aktrin at (336) 841-8535, or by sending an e-mail to principal author Pablo Polding of the Mexxissippi Consulting Group in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. His address is Pablo@laterra.com.
