McAdams joins Vermont Tubbs

Powell Slaughter -- Furniture Today, March 31, 2003

Hal McAdams, a 30-year industry veteran, has joined solid-wood case goods manufacturer Vermont Tubbs as executive vice president.

In addition to senior management duties, McAdams will oversee the sales and marketing effort, which formerly was managed by John Vogel, who has left the company.

"One of the immediate changes taking place at Vermont Tubbs since being purchased by Harbor Partners, LLC is the addition of Hal McAdams as executive vice president," said Lee Houston, president. "He reports directly to me."

McAdams came to Vermont Tubbs from case goods manufacturer Ligna Furniture, where he was president. At Ligna, John Lum has replaced McAdams as president.

Before joining Ligna, McAdams was executive vice president at manufacturer Hickory White, where he also managed sales and marketing. He began his career as a manager of sales and marketing for Thomasville's Founders division.

At Vermont Tubbs, McAdams said, "We will continue to improve our service and delivery times while maintaining our 163-year tradition of manufacturing enduring designs of superior quality and value.

"The new ownership's financial power, coupled with our new factory and dedicated employees means that Tubbs can carry on with its improvements and thus grow at a faster rate in the solid-wood furniture market."

He said Vermont Tubbs will continue to develop product with simple, classic styling. At market, the company will introduce a softer look with its new Sheldon collection, and offer the existing Dorset and Saxon collections in ash. Storage headboard beds are on tap for the Woodstock and Arlington collections.
