New trucks paying off

Royal Oak, Mich. — Billy Bob's Gameroom Furnishings said it is achieving added efficiency from its $1 million investment in a fleet of demountable trucks.
The trucks allow the truck body to be dismounted from the cab by one person in less than 10 minutes. By loading and unloading the truck body when it is detached from the cab, deliveries can be made more efficiently.
Billy Bob's fleet includes 11 trucks and 20 truck bodies. Each truck body features a 14 x 27 full-color advertisement for the store.
"We are proud to be the first company in Michigan to recognize the importance these demountable trucks will play in the transportation industry," said Bob Seroka, Billy Bob's founder, owner and president. "Our willingness to diverge from the traditional single-axle delivery truck has proven to be a highly successful strategy both from an operations and marketing standpoint."
He said the trucks have been on the road for nearly six months.
"We have been able to deliver our customers furniture sooner, utilize our manpower more effectively and take our message on the road," he said.
