Cvijanovic appointed agent for Shaw Wood
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 31, 2003
High Point — Vince Cvijanovic, a veteran flat-pack and small office/home office executive, has been named exclusive North American agent for Shaw Wood Furniture, a Canadian maker of solid-wood ready-to-assemble furniture.
He will head product development and marketing in this country, where the company currently has a single customer.
Cvijanovic previously was vice president of sales and marketing at High Point Furniture Inds., and earlier worked for Fournier and Ameriwood.
Shaw Wood, based in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, will continue to make proprietary furniture designs for Ikea.
"We're in the start-up mode right now of developing new distribution and product development," Cvijanovic said. "Wherever RTA furniture is sold today would be the primary distribution objective for Shaw Wood. Also, some retailers who don't like paper laminate products might want to take a look at solid wood."
He is focusing first on large chains that can generate quick volume. He hopes they are eager for some new merchandising opportunities in flat-pack furniture, and expects Shaw Wood would develop products for stepup price points.
