Commerce, Calif. — Responding to an urgent appeal for operating funds, the Assn. of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers has donated an additional $15,000 to WoodLinks USA, bringing its total 2002 donation to the organization to $40,000.
WoodLinks USA is a non-profit program teaching high school students the basics required for career in the woodworking field.
"WoodLinks USA is a victim of its own success," said Larry Hilchie of the Weinig Group, who is president of WoodLinks USA and a board member of AWFS.
"WoodLinks USA is growing very rapidly, adding schools all over the country. We need more funds to maintain the national coordination and support essential for these many new programs to thrive."
For more information on WoodLinks USA, visit the programs Web site at www.woodlinks.com.
