Carpenter decides to stay at Boyd
Jeff Linville, Powell Slaughter -- Furniture Today, April 13, 2003
Pomona, Calif. — Bill Carpenter says he has "unfinished business" with Boyd Furniture and won't be joining case goods importer Royal Patina after all.
Carpenter, who is vice president of sales and marketing at case goods source Boyd, had accepted the job of Western regional vice president of sales at Royal Patina. But he decided to remain with Boyd.
"My heart was really with Boyd," he said.
Once a fully domestic manufacturer, Boyd suffered through hard times in the past two years before finding success with a mixture of domestic and imported goods last fall, he said. Sales increased dramatically after the October launch of a furniture line created by Carpenter in association with actor Kevin Sorbo and his wife, Sam Sorbo.
At Royal Patina, Chairman Bill Rogers said the company is continuing to search for two regional sales vice presidents for the eastern and western United States.
