ATMI elects Unifi's Moore chairman

The American Textile Manufacturers Institute elected Willis "Billy" Moore III chairman during its 54th annual meeting in Coral Gables, Fla.

He is executive vice president and chief financial officer at yarn specialist Unifi, based in Greensboro, N.C.

Moore chairs the ATMI board and its executive committee, works with staff to implement board policies, and serves as the group's primary spokesman. ATMI is the industry's main representative to the federal government and the news media.

James "Jim" Chesnutt, president and chief executive officer of National Spinning, Washington, N.C., was elected first vice chairman. Allen Gant Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Glen Raven, Glen Raven, N.C., was elected second vice chairman.

Newly elected board members for terms expiring in 2006 are G. Stephen Felker, Avondale Mills; Bernard Hodges, Wade Mfg.; George Moretz, Carolina Mills; Max Perks, Coats North America; Jerry Rowland, National Textiles; and D. Harding Stowe, R.L. Stowe Mills.

The new executive committee, elected for a one-year term, includes Moore, Chesnutt, Gant, Rowland and Felker; Van May, Plains Cotton Cooperative Assn.; Roger Chastain, Mount Vernon Mills; and Henry Truslow IV, Sunbury Textile Mills.
