Edward A. Shook, industry veteran

Raleigh, N.C. — Furniture manufacturing consultant Edward A. Shook has died. He was 72.
Shook was a 1957 graduate of N.C. State's Furniture Manufacturing and Management program. In 1962, he opened E.A. Shook Associates. He designed furniture factories in the United States, Canada and Asia and was among the first to promote automation, conveyorization and other labor-saving practices. Shook's clients included Pulaski, Vaughan, Vaughan-Bassett, Stanley, Null and Hooker. He retired in 2001.
He is survived by his wife and two sons. His son, Andy, is president of SAC U.S.A. in Charlotte, N.C., an Italian woodworking equipment manufacturer.
