IFSA

High Point — The International Furniture Suppliers Assn., formerly the International Wholesale Furniture Assn., has elected officers for 2003–2004.

Gary Chase, co-owner of G.P.S. Furniture International and president of FurnitureFan.com, was elected president. He succeeds Bruce Minkoff, vice president of Woodson & Bozeman, who becomes chairman of the board.

Other officers elected are Don Mecke, Standard Furniture, executive vice president; David Kuluva, Mittleman Furniture, first vice president; and Ron Paddock, R&T Furniture, secretary/treasurer.

Board members include Joe Blazar, Leggett & Platt; Chuck Hanshaw, Huntington Wholesale Furniture; Ed Marshall, Orleans Furniture; and Evan Ritchie, Emerald Home Furnishings.

Serving as advisors to the president are T.J. Dobbins, F.A. Hulett & Son, and Jim Harwell, Harwell Distributing.

SCMA

Pittsburgh — Joseph J. Haggerty Jr. of Williams Lumber Co. in Rocky Mount, N.C., has been elected president of the Southern Cypress Manufacturers Assn.

The SCMA also elected Bill Conwell of Griffis Lumber Co. in Gainesville, Fla., as vice president.

Honors

Park Place Corp.

Greenville, S.C. — Mattress and upholstery maker Park Place has recognized outstanding sales representatives for 2002.

Lloyd Brummett was named Salesperson of the Year and given the Top Mattress Sales award. Sonny Emanuel received the award for Top Furniture Sales, and Mark Russ Jr. was honored with the Most New Accounts award.

Several reps were inducted into the Park Place Hall of Fame for individual sales exceeding $1 million. In addition to Brummett and Russ, they were Richard Walker, Greg Seawell and Mark McCormick.

Recognized for exceeding plan and for having a personal best sales year were Steve Cathell, John Peterson and Ron Glosson, and also Walker, Seawell, Brummett and McCormick.
