2nd Dining by Design set for Chicago

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, May 26, 2003

The second annual Elle Décor's Dining by Design fundraiser is set for Oct. 1–4 at the Merchandise Mart here, with proceeds to benefit the Design Inds. Foundation Fighting AIDS.

Design professionals will create a variety of table vignettes, ranging from understated elegance to lavish to outlandish, for the event. Each space is 11 feet by 11 feet and must encompass a table with seating for 10 for dinner as well as a vessel in which to chill champagne.

"Elle Décor's Dining by Design premiered in Chicago last year and was truly an evening to be remembered," said John H. Brennen, III, executive vice president of Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. "With over-the-top tables ranging from elegant to whimsical, we expect the 2003 event to be much larger and even more spectacular."

MMPI and Champagne Taittinger are the sponsors of the event. Champagne Taittinger's Bubble Blast on Thursday evening, Oct. 2, will be a preview and silent auction of the tabletops.
