Pantone redesigns color system

Carlstadt, N.J. — Pantone, a global provider of color standards for the design industries, has redesigned its textile color system to make it more intuitive and easier to use.
The system, known as the Pantone color system for fashion and home, is arranged chromatically by color family and features larger-format chips with more chips per page, giving designers an array of colors ranging from light to dark and from subtle to bright.
"The ability to search for a particular color within each color family is a key feature," said Lisa Herbert, executive vice president. "Our years of research and customer feedback led to our decision to redesign Pantone for fashion and home in a format that addresses the specific design, sourcing and manufacturing workflows of our clients."
Enhancements range from new, larger binders and chips to additional colors and greater consistency.
The upgraded Pantone Color Chooser 3.0 will be available at the end of June.
Color Chooser is a system-level color picker for Mac OS-X or Windows that enables the integration of Pantone's color system for fashion and home into existing design software. The new version will contain Adobe Illustrator swatch files.
