Runyan joins show company

Hickory, N.C. — Larry Runyan, a 30-year furniture industry veteran, has joined Hickory Mart Shows as business development director.
His duties include planning for the 24th annual Hickory Furniture Suppliers Show, set for Feb. 5–6, 2004, at the Hickory Metro Convention Center.
"We feel fortunate to have obtained the services of someone with Larry's depth of experience and expertise," said Jamie Treadaway, executive director of Hickory Mart Shows. "Many of our exhibitors know him through his 21-year tenure with the American Furniture Manufacturers Assn., where he was vice president of manufacturing services."
Among Runyan's first tasks will be to conduct a one-on-one survey of selected major manufacturers to determine how the suppliers show can better serve their needs. He then will develop programs and features to meet those needs.
During his years with AFMA, Runyan's duties included serving as staff liaison to the Furniture Foundation and the Furniture Manufacturing Management Center at N.C. State University. He also coordinated industry trade show participation and developed an environmental guidebook for the furniture industry.
