High Point — Cindy Sheaffer has resigned as director of media relations for the American Furniture Manufacturers Assn. to take a job outside the industry.
Sheaffer, who prepared materials and dealt with the press as part of AFMA's public relations efforts, will be editor in chief at the Winston-Salem office of Northstar, a company that provides information for the travel industry.
Jackie Hirschhaut, AFMA's vice president of public relations, said she and her staff will carry on with efforts to assist the hundreds of journalists who will attend and cover the April market here. No decision has been made on a replacement for Sheaffer, she said.
Before joining AFMA, Sheaffer was editor of Home Accents Today, a sister publication of Furniture/Today, and was assistant managing editor of Furniture/Today.
