Thomas Henry Wilson Jr., industry veteran

Retired furniture executive Thomas Henry Wilson Jr. died from a stroke earlier this month while on a fly-fishing trip in Argentina. He was 74.

Wilson had worked in merchandising and marketing at manufacturers Bernhardt and Caldwell Furniture, a part of Thomasville Furniture Inds.

He and his family also were active in furniture industry and real estate investments. His father, the late Thomas Henry Wilson Sr., was a founder of Henredon and his mother, the late Dell Bernhardt Wilson, was a member of the Bernhardt furniture family.

The younger Wilson was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Davidson College and Harvard Business School and served as a lieutenant in the Navy before starting his furniture career.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, a daughter, two brothers and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lenoir Little League, P.O. Box 3265, Lenoir, N.C. 28645; the Southwest Forsyth Little League, P.O. Box 929, Clemmons, N.C. 27012; or the Thomas Henry Wilson Jr. Athletic Scholarship, Davidson College, P.O. Box 7138, Davidson, N.C. 28035.
