Survey again will assess retailer mood

High Point — The second Mood to Market survey is under way to assess furniture retailer attitudes coming into the April market.
The Bryan School of Business and Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which constructed the survey, is again conducting it for accounting and consulting firm Dixon Odom.
The survey queries some 500 randomly selected North American retailers, who are asked about business conditions, product introductions, the effect of imports, merchandising plans and suggestions to improve the market. Results of the survey will be disclosed and discussed at a news conference April 1 in High Point.
"We confirmed from the inaugural survey last fall that people wanted and appreciated a reliable and credible way to know what they are likely to expect at market," said Randy Brodd, a partner at Dixon Odom.
"From the responses, we will be able to establish the retailers' mood to market, which becomes an insightful market assessment tool for manufacturers, retailers, suppliers and everyone else involved in the market," he said.
