By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 17, 2003

• All prices retail • In-depth stories on home office introductions will appear in Furniture/Today's opening-day issue •

  • The Tide is Low: The quantity of office introductions appears to be down, especially when compared with the category's heyday of three years ago.

  • Updated Traditional: Computer functions such as wire management and peripheral storage are now de rigueur, even with 18th-century executive desks.

  • Flexible function: Major factories in this category are developing cabinets that work easily for both entertainment and office, although not at the same time.

Hillary has a gas lift for easy adjusting and a polished aluminum coated steel base on castors for mobility, $149 retail.

French Heritage 422 North Wrenn

The same cabinet can be configured for computer or HDTV, and the shelves on either side can be bookcases or component/display for entertainment.

  • A new laptop computer small office. With laptop computers now approaching 50% of the market, there is more demand for modulars to accommodate these — smaller-scaled pieces in styling to appeal to younger consumers. They also feature a sliding task light.

Riverside IHFC C-302
