IFDA to honor Segal

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 17, 2003

Crate & Barrel's Gordon Segal will receive the first Revolutionary Retailer Award from the International Furnishings and Design Assn./New York this month.

The presentation will be part of IFDA/NY's Circle of Excellence Awards gala here March 19.

Segal, Crate & Barrel's founder and chief executive officer, will be honored for "having created a merchandising/lifestyle marketing concept that has become the standard by which home furnishings retailing at the highest level is measured," said Renée Bennett, IFDA/NY Chapter president.

Others to be recognized include Home and Garden Television, to receive the Laurel Award for increasing the industry's public visibility, and Christina Manca of Holly Hunt Inc., with the Rising Star Award for a younger member of IFDA/NY who enthusiastically has taken on responsibility for IFDA projects.

Among the several professionals receiving 2003 Circle of Excellence Awards are Sherri Donghia, executive vice president of Donghia Furniture/Textiles, for excellence in product design and development, and New York interior designer Jamie Drake in interior design.

For more information on the gala, call IFDA's office at (212) 686-6020.
