High Point — Showrooms or events that need brightening up during market can call on the state's reigning beauty queen. Misty Clymer, Miss North Carolina, is making her services available for appearances at the April market.
Her booking agent, Carl Mize of The Agency in High Point, said the standard fee is $500 for a three-hour appearance, but that other rates are negotiable for longer visits.
Mize said he believed that Miss North Carolinas used to appear at market showrooms and events in the 1960s, but not in recent years.
Clymer, 24, is an accountant for IBM who lives in Raleigh, N.C. She said she has had a longtime interest in the state's textile and furniture industries and looks forward to her first visit to the International Home Furnishings Market.
