Bernard Shikoff, Philadelphia area sales rep, dies at 82
Spent nearly 60 years in furniture industry

PHILADELPHIA — Bernard Shikoff, a longtime sales representative in the Philadelphia area, has died. He was 82.Shikoff spent nearly 60 years in the home furnishings industry, starting as a furniture buyer for Snellenbergs and then Gimbels, both in Philadelphia, in the late 1950s and 1960s.
He left Gimbels in 1969 to become a sales representative with Stylecraft Upholstered Furniture and Richardson Bros. Furniture. He was with Stylecraft until the company closed in 1976 and with Richardson Bros. until it went out of business in 2007, after which he retired. He also was a rep for Wesley Allen for eight years in the 1980s and '90s and with Holland House Furniture from 2002 to 2007.
Shikoff was a longtime member of the Tri-State Home Furnishings Assn., dating back to when it was known as The Furniture Club of Philadelphia. "His whole life was furniture," said his son, Steven Shikoff, also a sales rep. "He was a true furniture veteran."
In addition to Steven, Bernard Shikoff is survived by his wife, daughter, another son and four grandchildren.
