Stickley President Aminy Audi to visit
Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, April 30, 2009
ROCKVILLE, Md. - High-end Sheffield Furniture & Interiors is grand opening two Washington-area stores starting today with an event benefiting the American Breast Cancer Foundation. The 40,000-square-foot store here in Rockville and the 20,000-square-foot store in Dulles, Va., were former Danker Furniture locations, owned by Sheffield parent Severegn Furniture Management. Sheffield's flagship store is in Malvern, Pa., near Philadelphia.
Today, the opening of the Rockville store will be celebrated with visits and a ribbon cutting by Aminy Audi, president of manufacturer L. & J.G. Stickley, and her son Edward Audi, vice president. The event will be repeated Saturday at the Dulles location.
Sheffield is Stickley's its No. 1 dealer based on sales volume.
In remembrance of the late Janet Mita, a longtime Sheffield employee, the retailer will donate one-third of its proceeds from two commemorative Stickley items sold during the three-day grand opening event. Stickley and Sheffield collaborated to offer the items, a limited-production poppy table and a jewelry box. Both bear brass plaques inscribed with Aminy Audi's signature and the American Breast Cancer Foundation's logo.
Separately, Severegn will close its Danker store in Pentagon City, Va., in August when the lease expires, unless the company negotiates an extension, officials said. Its other Danker in Annapolis also will close this year unless a new lease agreement is reached.
