Smith to receive IHFRA's Rudy award
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 23, 2003
High Point — Thomas Smith will receive this year's prestigious Rudy award from the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. at the annual IHFRA Gala here March 1.
Smith, who represents Hooker Furniture, Bermex International and Parker Southern in eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and eastern Delaware, has been involved in the association since he began his career.
The award was named in honor of Rudy Steltemeier, a home furnishings rep for 66 years, who was generous with his help to other reps and retailers. He was proud to be a furniture salesman and often told other reps, "You make your living selling furniture and you must support your association."
To be eligible for the award, a nominee must be a home furnishings representative who is a member of IHFRA and who has demonstrated the qualities of outstanding service to fellow reps exemplified by Rudy Steltemeier.
Cocktails are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and dinner is at 7 o'clock. Tickets are $40 per person. To attend or for more information, contact IHFRA at (800) 889-3920.
