High Point — Under a licensing agreement, Canadian midpriced producer Décor-Rest will make and market a full line of fabric and leather upholstered furniture under the Alexander Julian At Home brand.
Décor-Rest will debut the line at the April market, featuring about eight groups including sofas, loveseats, chairs, ottomans and chaise lounges designed by award-winning designer Alexander Julian.
The manufacturer expects to unveil over 50 fabrics at market, many of them exclusive Julian designs, primarily in traditional and transitional styles.
"We have been working together for nine months now," said Christina Marzilli, co-founder of Decor-Rest, "and what I have found is that Alex brings an incredible level of textile expertise, passion and carefully thought-out strategy to his work. We think those qualities blend with our commitment to build well-designed, excellently crafted products that are well-priced, and that is certain to be a winning combination for everyone."
The Alexander Julian At Home collection is Décor-Rest's first licensed program. The family-operated business, founded in 1972, is based in Woodbridge, Ontario.
The upholstery also will be featured in vignettes with Julian case goods made by Universal Furniture, in the latter's market showroom at 2622 Uwharrie Road.
Bruce Tilley, president of Alexander Julian's home division, said, "When we met Décor-Rest, we knew we had found a jewel. They aggressively entered the American marketplace with great designs and exemplary quality, and they have an unwavering focus on marketing and support."
