Scoperta seeking to extend reach

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 17, 2003

Trade Link is targeting new materials and new markets for the upcoming Scoperta fabric show in Chiasso, Switzerland, May 6–9, expected to be the largest ever with over 80 exhibitors.

Scoperta 2003 will focus on bringing in exhibitors with innovative materials and designs, and bringing in new buyers from the developing countries of Europe, said Bill Davis, managing director of Trade Link, organizers of the annual show.

"Some people are saying ... they see nothing new these days at shows," he said. "Our answer is: Come and have a look at how things are changing. Traditional manufacturers are working harder at producing new collections more frequently. New, innovative suppliers are appearing all the time, and we aim to provide the platform to present these new materials and ideas."

Among those that will show for the first time at Scoperta are Ta-Bru, Seba Textil, Novita, Top Gun Leather and Naturtes, all known for novel upholstery materials. Other new suppliers include Nitee and Kashmir Export from India, and Epengle, Istanbul Mensucat, Natin International, On-Em, Prestij and Tosunoglu from Turkey.

Scoperta runs concurrently with Proposte, held in Cernobbio, Italy. Courtesy transportation is provided between Scoperta and Proposte, as well as between Scoperta and Como, Italy, and Lugano, Switzerland.
