Greengrass sets East Coast facility

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 16, 2003

Greengrass International, a California case goods importer, is opening a facility here to serve the Northeast, and has promoted Antonio Romero from sales manager to the new post of division manager of East Coast operations.

The renovated facility has about 1,000 square feet for offices and 51,000 square feet for warehousing and distribution, Romero said. By the first of March, he expects to be shipping midpriced adult bedroom, dining and occasional furniture.

Romero said the division will have its own sales force and customer service representatives, with 10 to 12 employees by March and perhaps 20 by the end of the year.

"In the past year, we have experienced growth and gained market share in the West Coast," he said. "Our goal is to continue to take the same principles that worked for us and expand to new markets."

President Sharon Lin wants to generate greater sales in the largest U.S. markets, Romero said, and once the Edison operation is profitable, the company will expand to other key locations in the East.

Greengrass shows at the High Point, San Francisco and Tupelo markets.
