Washington — A new Web site offers volumes of research on the connection between design and human behavior.
InformeDesign, at www.informedesign.umn.edu, has more than 240 research summaries of findings on the topic from academic journals.
The American Society of Interior Designers and the University of Minnesota are behind the site, with sponsorship from Armstrong World Inds., the Carpet and Rug Institute, Sherwin-Williams Co. and Vista Window Film.
"For the first time in one location, practitioners, students, educators, researchers, industry representatives, other professionals who design the built environment, and the public will have access to the tremendous wealth of research on the inextricable link between design and human behavior," said ASID President H. Don Bowden.
All services on the site are available at no cost. Features include a searchable database of research summaries, online discussion forums, listings of collaborative research opportunities, a calendar of research-related events and a glossary of terms.
A monthly newsletter and other services and products are planned.
