Greater Midwest HFRA gives awards

Elmwood Park, Ill. — The Greater Midwest Home Furnishings Assn. honored several members at its annual awards and holiday party.
Retailer of the Year honors went to Marty and Steve Darvin of Darvin Furniture, Orland Park, Ill. Joan Franken of Toms-Price Furniture, Wheaton, Ill., was named Buyer of the Year. Walter E. Smithe, Jr. of Walter E. Smithe Furniture, Itasca, Ill., was named Pillar of the Industry for his many years of support.
In other categories, Mattress World/Bedding Experts was named Specialty Store of the Year, and President Thomas Sailor accepted the award. John Clarkson of J. Marshall Designs accepted the Merchandise Mart Showroom of the Year. The Best New Store was given to Jerry Divincen, Divencen's. Vince Morreale, Old Biscayne Designs, received the Dean of IHFRA award.
