Klaussner going to Vegas
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 16, 2003
Las Vegas — Klaussner Furniture Inds. has signed a lease for about 20,000 square feet in the planned World Market Center here, becoming the latest announced big name supplier to support the planned furniture market.
Klaussner will use the space on the eighth floor of the World Market Center's 1.3 million-square-foot first building to show furniture from its West Coast subsidiaries, Klaussner Furniture of California and Golden Oaks.
"I believe the Las Vegas market is going to add excitement to the West Coast lineup," said Tony Ocampo, president of Klaussner's West Coast companies.
Klaussner of California and Golden Oaks will continue to exhibit in separate showrooms in San Francisco at least until the Las Vegas market opens. "At that point we'll evaluate whether to keep both," said Ocampo, who is a member of the WMC's 18-person advisory board.
The WMC will break ground in March on the first building of the planned $1 billion, 7.5 million-square-foot complex. The building is expected to be finished next year but dates have not yet been set for the first market.
