Klaussner sets new Dick Idol line for April
Powell Slaughter -- Furniture Today, February 17, 2003
Asheboro, N.C. — Dick Idol Ventures and Klaussner Furniture Inds. will introduce Dick Idol Northwoods at the April High Point market, a new collection of case goods and upholstery licensed with the Montana outdoorsman and artist.
The outdoor-inspired, whole-home collection also includes lighting, accessories, floor coverings and sculpture from other Dick Idol licensees.
While select pieces have been added to the original Dick Idol Home Collection since its debut in October 2001, Northwoods is the first new collection since then.
Rich, natural wood finishes, complementary upholstery fabrics, antiqued metals, and vintage European and Native American design elements highlight Northwoods, which recalls the rustic sophistication of the great camps of the Adirondacks.
"Northwoods is a collection with great balance," Idol said. "We always dare to be different, but try to achieve an overall look and character that feels like home to the average consumer. Like my previous collection, this group is equally appealing to both men and women, with the creative touches that our brand is noted for."
The new collection comes in two flavors.
American Retreat is distinguished by rugged elegance and simple design, with cherry finishes and swan-neck, oiled bronze hardware. Woodland Forge conveys the relationship between natural materials and man-made structures, using twigs mixed with simple lines, hammered textured metal mixed with wood, and hand-painted looks mixed with warm honey finishes.
"We are thrilled about the new Northwoods collection, which expands our offering of Dick Idol products," said Jeff Davis, vice president of Klaussner.
In addition to Klaussner, licensees include Pacific Coast Lighting for lamps and lighting, Cape Craftsmen for giftware and home accessories, Capel for area rugs, J. Edward for framed art and mirrors, Big Sky Carvers for cold-cast sculptures, and Foster's Point for florals.
