Magnussen expands HP space
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 16, 2003
High Point — Case goods and occasional importer Magnussen Home Furnishings will exhibit in a new 26,200-square-foot space at the April market, more than double the size of its previous showroom.
The company said sales growth and new categories prompted the move to space M1010 in the Main Building of the International Home Furnishings Center.
After introducing its master bedroom line in 2001 and dining room last year, Magnussen expects sales this year to be twice its 2000 figure. As part of its growth plan, in October the company opened a $15 million, 450,000-square-foot distribution center in Riverside, Calif.
Both the new showroom and distribution center are expandable.
"Our new showroom is the first step towards showing the majority of our products in an extraordinary setting," said Jeff Cook, president and chief executive officer. "We're creating an environment that will be dramatically different from a typical showroom presentation, but is still a functional and friendly working environment for our dealers."
Connie Post Cos. is designing the presentation, which "will inspire an array of new approaches for retailers to utilize when they return to their stores," said Connie Post, chief executive officer.
