Furniture Marketing Group elects board members
Oscar Miskelly, Jack Kabazie join buying group's board

HIGH POINT — The Furniture Marketing Group has announced new board members elected during the April High Point Market.New to the board are Oscar Miskelly, Miskelly Furniture, Jackson, Miss.; and Jack Kabazie, Smith's Furniture, Louisville, Ky., and returning members are Gary Steinhafel, Steinhafel's, Waukesha, Wis.; and Larry Klaben, Morris Furniture, Fairborn, Ohio.
Finishing out their two-year terms on the executive committee are Tom Olinde, Olinde's Furniture, Baton Rouge, La., president; Steve Stein, Grand Furniture, Virginia Beach, Va., vice president; David Gunn, Knight Furniture, Sherman, Texas, treasurer; and Marc Schewel, Schewel Furniture, Lynchburg, Va., chairman.
During the meeting, FMG Executive Director Mike Herschel thanked members for their participation.
Herschel said in a press release that FMG "smashed all previous records in returning volume rebate money" to its members for last year's purchases, but he declined to disclose the amount.
Also at the meeting, FMG's primary consumer finance provider, Wells Fargo Finance, presented annual awards to members based on program participation and finance volume. The honorees were Bob Mills Furniture, Oklahoma City; Conlin's Furniture, Billings, Mont.; Furniture Factory Warehouse, San Antonio; Olinde's Furniture; Crest-Value City Furniture, Dayton, N.J.; and Walker's Furniture Gallery, Spokane, Wash.
In addition, FMG recognized FurnitureDealer.net for outstanding service in providing a large percentage of its members with premium, customized Web site solutions.
The FMG networking and buying group has 82 members with nearly 600 stores, representing more than $1.5 billion in annual sales.
