Buxbaum Group

Calabasas, Calif. — Edward Gil has joined consultant and liquidator Buxbaum Group here as director of marketing.

He will handle marketing for Buxbaum and its affiliates, and establish strategic initiatives for the company.

Gil previously was co-founder/ chief operating officer of SageMetrics Corp., a business data and warehousing service. Prior to that, he worked at Disney Interactive as director, international business development and marketing, and at Columbia Tristar and National Geographic Television.

Colonial Williamsburg

Williamsburg, Va. — Colonial Williamsburg has made two staffing changes in its products division.

Tammy Kersey has been promoted to director of stores and direct marketing, responsible for sales, business management, store strategic planning, catalog, e-commerce, wholesale and corporate and conference business. She has been with the foundation since 1986, most recently as director of the Williamsburg Direct Marketing group.

Beth Moore, director of marketing, has assumed additional responsibilities for visual merchandising and the direct marketing creative team. She joined the foundation in 2001 as brand promotions manager. She previously was director of marketing at Bob Timberlake Inc.

Honors

Furniture Fair

Jacksonville, N.C. — Ivins "Itchy" Popkin, owner of retailer Furniture Fair here, has been given the Civic Honor Award by the Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce.

He was honored for his ongoing commitment to the community, and particularly for his recent donation of a truckload of furniture to a local student who lost his home in a fire.

IHFMA

High Point — Judy Mendenhall, president of the International Home Furnishings Market Authority, has been named the High Point Chamber of Commerce's Distinguished Citizen of the Year.

She has been the Market Authority's top executive since the organization was created in July 2001. Mendenhall is a former High Point Chamber president and has a long record of service to civic organizations.

The distinguished citizen award is given annually to an exceptional person who has achieved professional excellence and has served the community in other meaningful ways.
