Faig joins Butler Specialty
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 2, 2003
Chicago — Occasional furniture producer Butler Specialty has hired John Faig to the new position of director of product development.
Faig has 27 years of industry experience and since 1979 has been a senior merchandiser and buyer for Carlson Marketing Group, a catalog home furnishings retailer and a customer of Butler.
According to President David Bergman, Butler Specialty has achieved double-digit sales increases in each of the past six years, including a 20% gain in 2002, due largely to a line of innovatively styled furniture. Butler has more than 500 occasional and accent pieces in its line and plans to take some risks to provide excitement to sales floors, he said.
"John has a great eye for product," said Bergman, "and he understands what sells at retail."
"Retailers love to hear customers say, 'Wow, I've just got to have that,'" said Faig. "We're going to add more sizzle to their stores."
He will work with David Bergman, Chairman Burt Bergman and other executives in developing new pieces.
