New products sport fusion of styles
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 3, 2003
Valencia, Spain — A fusion of styles, cultures and eras enriched the new products shown at Textil Hogar here.
Style directions at the fair, as named and described by show organizers, included:
-
Fantasy. These fabrics created changing ambiences from serene to flashy through the contrast and interplay of colors and textures. Strong, vibrant blues, yellows, oranges and purples were predominant, and patterns, reminiscent of the 1940s and '50s, tended to be symmetrical and geometrical.
-
Edelweiss. Nature was echoed in simple, natural designs such as florals. The season's twist came from patterns that were extremely stylized, then boiled down to be just hints of patterns. A calm, romantic sense for interiors was also suggested by small, subtle stripes and repeated patterns. Colors were elemental, including olive greens, earthy browns, sky blues and cloudy grays.
-
Tundra. These fabrics were clearly inspired by the combination of exotic and unusual foreign influences from Asia and Russia. Intense colors — coppers and violets — were important, along with a richness of pattern and texture.
