W.S. Badcock promotes 4 to VPs

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 2, 2003

Southeast retailer W.S. Badcock has promoted four managers to vice presidents.

Cathy Allen has been named vice president of merchandising and remains responsible for accessories, an area targeted for growth. Allen, also responsible for the semiannual meetings of Badcock dealers, continues to report to Bill Daughtery, executive vice president for merchandise and marketing.

Gary Wiggs has been appointed vice president in charge of the occasional, youth and outdoor categories. He started with Badcock immediately after high school, working in the Mulberry store, and has been with the company 22 years.

In store operations, Albert Chattelle has been named vice president of collections, reporting to Bill Pou Jr., executive vice president for retail operations. Chattelle was Badcock's collections manager. He started with Badcock in 1973 as a temporary laborer in warehouse receiving, and became collections manager in 1986. He now oversees all regional collection activities.

Susanne Kastner has been appointed vice president of corporate store operations. She joined Badcock in 2000 as director of corporate store operations, following many years in retail management and multistore supervision.

A Top 100 chain of corporate and licensed stores, Badcock has more than 320 units and generated $395 million in sales in 2001.

Ninety-five stores have converted to the updated Badcock Home Furnishings & more format.
