Penney is buyer at The Bay

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 2, 2003

Industry veteran Ron Penney has been named case goods buyer for The Bay, succeeding Christine Buckman, who left the department store chain to join Mega Group.

Penney previously was export sales manager for upholstery maker Décor-Rest. In his new post, he reports to Alixe MacRae, divisional merchandise manager for furniture, appliances and electronics at The Bay.

He started his career in the cutting room of a high-end upholstery company and has worked in merchandising and buying for retailer Robinsons and in store management for Sears Canada.

Penney also has served as general manager of Canadian fabric distributors Kobe Fabrics and Caya Fabrics.
