Myriad launches new sales module

San Diego — It's no secret that to get more shoppers to buy, store salespeople need to be attentive, informed and able to begin a sales order — all without leaving the shopper's side. And that's what Myriad Software says its new wireless module can make possible.
With the software module, a salesperson with a hand-held computer can find out the price of a piece and its availability, look up important information about customers if they've shopped at the store before, and begin "writing" an order.
"This is just the beginning," said Carolyn Crowley, president of Myriad Software. "Our wireless module is the first of many wireless products we'll be offering the big-ticket retail industry in the near future."
The new browser edition of Myriad's Windows-based Eclicktic software provides access from anything — a PC notebook, workstation, cell phone or hand-held device such as Compaq's IPAQ. Access can be from the showroom floor, a home office, an airport, anywhere there's Internet access.
"We developed our browser edition to add power at the point of sale," said Crowley. "Coming from a retail furniture background, I know how important it is to keep salespeople close to their customers and close to the information they need, both at the same time.
"It won't be long before we'll have this wireless technology at work in warehousing, delivery, merchandising and service-related areas," she said.
The company will demonstrate the capabilities of the wireless module at its March users' conference and the April High Point market.
